Introduction
The Ridgeway Department of Justice, led by Acting Attorney General stickza and Deputy Solicitor General insertreality, launched a civil suit against three defendants. The listed defendants include two individuals, C_RYP1C and TheAvengerNick, and an LLC, Avenger Real Estate. The suit alleges that a defendant purposely listed an estate far more than its value, and exceeded the maximum amount a business or individual may sell an estate for, and that other defendants were negligent in protecting their customers from unfair practices and pricing.
Alleged Facts
The DOJ’s facts allege that Avenger Real Estate provides eviction reminder and housing update services, but they also allege that the business neglects to regulate its estate exchange channel in their discord server. The Department of Justice calls this a violation. This is how C_RYP1C was brought into the suit as he attempted to sell an estate for $50,000.
The DOJ lists in their suit three counts. Each count is for each defendant, but lists the same violation. It alleges that the defendant violated Section 4, Subsection A of the Fair Housing Act. Section 4(a) reads the following: “There shall be a sales cap of no more than 20% above the current average home price (as determined by local sales data and state reports) on all home sales. This includes private transactions between individuals and sales conducted by real estate persons or entities.”
Possible Outcome
Pursuant of Section 7(b) of the Fair Housing Act, the Department of Justice is requesting relief of $502,500 from each of the defendants. The DOJ also requests an injunction and declaratory relief saying that Avenger Real Estate, TheAvengerNick, and C_RYP1C were in violation of this act and that they cannot continue to violate its provisions. Lastly, it demands all of the defendants pay any attorney fees.
So in all, the Department of Justice seeks $1,005,000 from all of the defendants combined. This seems to be the largest sum to be earned from a lawsuit in the State of Ridgeway. This is a history making lawsuit and will hopefully yield fair housing for consumers.
